ASA Joins 16th World Festival od Students and Youth in Venezuela

UPDATE: The Asian Students Association (ASA) together with the members from the Philippine and Nepal will attend the 16th World Festival of Youth and Students (WFYS) that take place in Caracas, Venezuela from August 7 to 15. Madhav Nepal, the Regional Secretariat member will lead the ASA delegation in the festival. The ASA will present our views and perspectives about the current international issues such as the the imperialism wars, WTO and globalization, neo-liberalism and democracy.

In the opening ceremony on August 7, the President of Venezuela, Hugo Chavez echoed the slogan of the festival "Against Imperialism and War". Chavez called the United States the "most savage, cruel and murderous empire that has existed in the history of the world." The Venezuelan leader said "socialism is the only path," and told the students the collective goal is to "save a world threatened by the voracity of U.S. imperialism."

Around 15,000 youths from 144 countries in the world will have different conferences, workshops and activities in the weeklong festival. Besides, cultural activities and revolutionaries activities also conducted there.
